Information about DNS

You can control all your DNS for your domain through our DNS administration that you will find in the control panel.

A record

A record is used to translate a hostname to an IP address. The destination should always be an IP address.

AAAA record

AAAA records is used to translate a hostname to an IPv6 address. In the same way that an A record does to a IPv4 address.

MX record

A MX record determines witch mail server a domain receives emails on. The destination should always be a hostname. If you want to point the service to a given IP address, you have to create an A record that points to that IP address and then the MX record to this A record. A priority should be given. The record with lowest priority is used first.

CNAME record

A CNAME records is an alias to another hostname. The destination always have to be a hostname. A CNAME record is not the same as a URL forwarding. CNAME records should always be unique, there cant be other records with the same name as your CNAME record. Due to this will CNAME only work for sub domains.

TXT record

A TXT record can save comments to a DNS zone. Often used for SPF records.

NS record

A NS record tells you what name servers that handles the domain. NS records can only be created for subdomains.

SRV record

SRV records can be used to specify SIP traffic or be used for applications to access resources directly.

DNS changes (TTL)

When you make changes in DNS, the changes are carried out immediately on our name servers. Due to how DNS work and TTL on the specific records, could a change take some time before it becomes active on all machines around the world.

Standard DNS configurations

Use our standard DNS configurations for a fast set up of new DNS settings to popular services such as wix.com, Squarespace, Shopify, Google and many more. You can find our DNS-configurations in our DNS administration. When you have added a configuration, as with any DNS change, it will take some time before it becomes active. Always check that you DNS zone is correct after using a DNS configuration.

DNS templates

DNS templates makes it possible for you to create your own DNS templates and activate these on selected domains. The DNS from the template will be added in the domains records. In this way you can administrate the DNS for many domains, with only one click.

DNSSEC

DNSSEC ensures that your visitors always gets a reply from the name servers you want. It is done by signing the DNS zone and sending this information to the domains registry (DK Hostmaster for .dk domains). We support signing of all our DNS zones on our name servers with Algorithm 13.

We do not advice our customer to activate DNSSEC for now.

Please note following regarding DNSSEC

  • It is not possible to activate DNSSEC on domains that uses other name servers than UnoEuros. If this is done, the domain will stop responding..
  • If DNSSEC is activated and you change the name servers or transfer the domain away, the domain will stop responding (because the name servers are not the same as what DNSSEC says it should be). Deactivate DNSSEC before you change name servers or transfer the domain.
